What Happens in Vegas

Prepare yourself for some mind numbing entertainment if you sit down to watch Ashton Kutcher and Cameron Diaz in What Happen in Vegas. It’s a romantic comedy about two people who go to Las Vegas to escape their lives for a weekend, and end up getting married while they are totally wasted one night. After dropping Diaz’s quarter into a slot machine, Kutcher wins three million dollars which Diaz insists is hers. The two go to divorce court to settle who wins the money, but the judge, a not so funny Dennis Miller, rules the two have to try being married for six months before he will award either the money. They also have to attend couples therapy, with Queen Latifah as the therapist, to make sure they are actually giving the marriage a fair shot.

The rest of the movie involves Diaz and Kutcher battling each other to claim the money. It had some funny moments, and the two stars are very easy to look at, especially Cameron Diaz, she’s just so cute and she wears some great outfits! They both navigated the physical comedy pretty well, but overall, the movie fell flat a lot, some of the writing was just brutal – watch out for the Dick Banger jokes. The unlikely couple romantic comedy has been done better than in this movie, and most likely will be done better in the future. But as far as rom/com offerings this summer, I did like it more than Made of Honor.
