When I opened the mascara up, I wasn't surprised that Maybelline had also super sized the
wand, again, like the LashBlast. But this wand wasn't the silicone spiked version that Cover Girl has been all about, it's more of the traditional bristle wand, just a lot bigger. I still found the stubbiness of the wand a bit hard to maneuver, especially in the corners of my eyes, but it was a vast improvement over the Cover Girl wand. The mascara went on very smoothly, and I did notice an increase in length (I guess do to the collagen they have added) and a bit more volume, but don't be overzealous with the number of coats because it can get a bit clumpy- I would recommend having a lash brush handy. I bought the Colossal Volum' Express in Glam Black, I still don't really know what the difference between that color and Very Black is, I guess at bit glossier finish, but it wasn't something I really noticed. At the end of the day, I did notice that the mascara flaked a little bit, but nothing that would make me not buy the mascara again. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised with the Colossal, it was definitely worth a try, and I liked it more than the Cover Girl LashBlast if only because the wand was better and the Colossal lengthened my lashes a bit more.
Note: As of today, Maybelline still hasn't put the Colossal Volum' Express on their site. I'm not really sure why this is, maybe they are waiting for customer feedback before doing a major launch - who knows, but they should put it up soon, it's a solid product.
