Covergirl Outlast Lipstain

A while back I wrote about the Stila lipstain, which I totally loved, and now Covergirl has launched a more affordable version called the Outlast Lipstain. It's a water based lipstain that offers a light wash of color to the lips that doesn't wipe off. It comes in a variety of shades that range from beigey nude to very berry, a lot more variety than Stila offers, which is now up to two lip stains.

I really liked that the applicator on this stain was more of a marker than a brush, which made for a very easy and precise application, which is important when dealing with a stain. Remember all of those Crayola markers that had a fine tip that you could use to outline a drawing? That is the kind of precision you can count on from the Outlast. I tried out the stain in a few different colors, which I am glad I did because I wasn't a huge fan of the more neutral colors which didn't show up very well on my lips. I tended to go for colors like Everbloom Kiss and Berry Smooch that left a little bit deeper pink then my natural lip color. The formula of the stains wasn't the best however. It is very drying, so unless you plan on keeping a tube of gloss nearby, I don't think you are going to like these stains. And if your lips are chapped at all, stay very far away from these stains because your lips will look like hot pink stucco after you apply, so I would recommend giving your pucker a little buff to prevent flaking.

Overall I still like the Stila stain better because of its conditioning properties and staying power, which in my opinion is worth the higher price tag. If you would like to read more about the Outlast Lipstain, visit Covergirl.

My lips are always chapped, so I've stayed away from lip stains... sad to hear that CG's version will be a no-no for me. Thanks for the review!
