Recently, I have been asked quite a few times about what kind of foundation I would recommend. In the past, I used to use both foundation and powder, but I realized that I didn’t need that much facial makeup all of the time. Sure, when I go out for a night on the town, I want to make sure I have my A face on (makeup to the nines), but I tend to favor a more minimalist approach to everyday makeup, opting for just a translucent powder with a little cover up.
One thing that is very important to keep in mind when considering a foundation and powder is what kind of coverage you want. If you want to cover up fine lines or acne scars, sure you may opt for a heavier look, but even then you should be careful not to go overboard and end up with a face that looks as though it may crack if you smile too much.
One product that I believe is the best of both worlds, offering both translucent coverage and the ability for more complete coverage is Stila’s Illuminating Powder Foundation. The powder leaves the skin velvety smooth when applied dry with a large brush, and it contains illuminating ingredients the leave the skin glowing. The powder can also be applied with a wet sponge that goes on like a liquid foundation, but dries as a heavier version of the powder with more coverage. The powder foundation never looks heavy as foundation and powder can sometimes look, and it contains spf to protect the skin from sun damage.
