Rehab Stars turn to TV

If you haven’t been watching TV lately you may have missed the latest phenomenon of rehabbed Hollywood starlets getting casted on top rated shows as a comeback launch pad. A few weeks ago Britney Spears accomplished what she failed to do with her train wreck and almost career ruining performance on MTV: she successfully made a cameo on the show How I Met Your Mother. It was so well received by audiences, and boosted ratings enough that she got a reprisal appearance a few episodes later. She did a great job; she was back to the funny, pretty, charming girl that had made her famous when she first started out. After the victory on TV, Britney seems to have gotten her act together, so all in all mission accomplished by going on TV: the masses have a more positive image of her and are willing to give her another go.

Last night another starlet tried to accomplish the same
thing. Lindsay Lohan made an appearance on the show
Ugly Betty as a high school queen bee that tormented Betty. Talk about perfect casting, if there was one person who could pull this off it was Lohan, anyone remember a little movie called Mean Girls? In recent months Lindsay has been out of the public eye for the most part, trying pick up her career where she left off, before she hit her downward spiral of partying and appallingly bad movies: Georgia Rule, I know Who Killed Me – yikes! I barely made it through Georgia, which I have to say was truly awful, and I just couldn’t make myself sit through I Know, watching Lindsay doing a strip tease was too much! From Disney movies to stripper roles was more than I could handle. But after watching her last night, she totally nailed the role and in my opinion, if she keeps this public image up, audiences will be ready for her again.

These women have made a huge leap in getting their careers back, now if they can tone down the partying and the insane paparazzi pictures I think they would be good to go. No more trashy outfits, shaving your heads, going commando and getting photographed (it got to the point that Spears was shot so many times without underwear that people call it “showing your Britney”) and getting wasted at parties. They have accomplished what so many have tried and now it’s up to them to keep the momentum going.
