have been a huge Dave fan since high school, and this was my fifth show - I know what you are thinking- no, they are not all the same, but you may find this review a bit biased. The last time I saw Dave was at the Air Canada Center a few years ago, and I didn't love that venue for his performance. The best Dave concerts I have been to have been at outdoor venues, ie Alpine Valley in Wisconsin, so I was pretty stoked about seeing him at the amphitheater. The last show I saw at Molson was Jack Johnson and we were sitting
really close to the stage, which I thought was awesome and made the concert that much better. But for the Dave show we opted for grass seats, which are first come first serve. Now, for other shows I have had grass seat tickets, I always made sure I arrived really early to get good standing spots. But unfortunately, that didn't really happen this time- so not only were we a bit late for the show, we were up in the nose bleed section on the grassy knoll. Which was fine, but in my opinion the concert experience would have been better had we been in the seated section. Next time, definitely going to fork out a little more dough for seats at this venue- totally worth it.The show it self was pretty amazing though, especially since Tim Reynolds is on tour with Dave
this summer because of his collaborative work on
their upcoming album. The set list consisted of a lot of new songs, a few from Dave's solo album and a couple of classics. As typical for the band, the songs opened up into wicked jam sessions highlighting each band member's talents, and Tim Reynolds was ridiculous - his guitar skills were off the hook! My only complaint was I thought there could have been a couple more vintage Dave songs. But I was loving the performance anyway - highlights were: So Much to Say, Grey Street, Everyday, Too Much, Dancing Nancies, all time favorite Jimmy Thing and the encore included a pretty cool cover of the funk classic, Thank you for letting me be myself. It was a fantastic show, and true to form Dave gave a great concert that left fans cheering for more. And yes, I would definitely go see the Dave Matthews Band again, and again for that matter.
