I have already reviewed one how to smoky eye by Stila, but I came across another series of similar products by Bare Escentuals. If you haven't heard of this particular line it is based out of San Francisco, and is sold at Sephora. It is the much talked about cosmetics line that uses 100% bareMinerals with no additives or preservatives. People seem to be crazy about this line and the kits are pretty cute, so I thought I would take a look. Each of the how to kits have a two or three shadows, very clear step by step instructions and a brush. A few of them caught my eye: the smoky eye which has a couple of different versions (one with grays, one with purples, etc.), the rocker eye, a darker, more dramatic eye and the
foiled eye, the high sheen, metallic wet look. There is a kit that I found a little gimmicky, the smoky v eye, and that is mostly because I really didn't like the fishtail brush. The shadows are really nice, have a great shimmer content and blend super easily (kind of like the Stila shadows, but these are all loose, so watch out or things could get very messy). The brushes are also great and work with the look you are trying to achieve. Overall I think these are fantastic if you need some pointers on how to do a certain look, or if you need some basic colors/brushes.
My main complaint is that they are pretty expensive, $32 each,
considering the shadows are much smaller in the kits than if you bought them separately. I realize you are getting a brush and a couple shadows, which does justify the expense somewhat. Either way, the kits are worth a look if only for the sake of the shadows.
