Olympic Beach Volleyball

By far my favorite event of the summer Olympics is beach volleyball: the cute bikinis, the rock music, and of course the good jobs (little slaps on the butt for a good play). It's a total party.

The athletes that compete in this sport are amazing; they are so strong and so fast! I was pretty excited to see the gold medal match in women's beach volleyball between China and the awesome US team of May-Treanor and Walsh. These two women are my heroes. They play so well together and have such incredible skills, it's no wonder they were the heavy favorites going in. I have been watching them since before the Athens games in 2000, and they didn't disappoint last night, if anything they showed how truly great they are.

Before even competing in the Olympics they have gone undefeated for their entire season of 2008, and also went without dropping a set in the the Olympics with their defeat over China last night securing a second gold medal, the first ever repeat in beach volleyball history. It was great to see them win last night after playing so well all year. If you want to check out the sport, the men's final is going to be played tonight between the US and Brazil.
