Fashion Week in Toronto. If her name rings a bell, it's because you probably would remember seeing her on the first ever season of Project Runway Canada. She has gained quite a following since her TV debut, becoming a staple on Canada's fashion scene. The collection presented on Wednesday was called Gangster Meets Glamor. It took inspiration from men's wear of the 1930's and updated it with a modern feminine flair. All of the pieces showed an eye for construction as well as precision tailoring. This line was totally up my alley, I love pieces that are strong but still make you feel sexy and empowered. The plunging necklines and sexy wide leg pants were fantastic! The line was highlighted by dramatic silhouettes and interesting draping: pencils skirts, jumpsuits and cocktail dresses all within a very limited color palette. It was like watching a chic 1930's black and white gangster film - totally swank.
In addition to her fashion line, Wong also designed
accessories exclusively for three new LG
phones to accompany her line, the Reveal, the Voyager and the Dare. Wong says, "My Spring/Summer 2009 collection is all about bringing quality construction, attention to detail and luxurious pieces to the fashion world, which is exactly what LG is bringing to technology. I want the women who wear my clothes to feel feminine, yet empowered and unstoppable. She's the Glamorous Gangster and an LG cell phone is her hottest accessory." I played around with the Reveal (pictured above), and I loved it. It's pretty much a Razr meets a Blackberry, which blends the best of both phones: QWERTY keyboard with flip capability. If you want to see more of the designs from the runway show check out Ms. Wong's website.
