Roots Original Flat Bags

I don't know whether you've checked out the bags from Roots lately, but if you haven't you should. Roots has traditionally been known for reliable leather products, but the design of the the bag was usually secondary to function. The leather has always been great, but they were just nothing special to look at. But with the release of their Flat Bag Collection, that has all changed. Enter bright colors, cute designs and versatility.

The Flat Bags are a series of bags that can be worn across the body, or if you shorten the strap can be worn as a shoulder bag, or if you shorten it even more, can be worn around the hips. I know what you're thinking - around the hips? Isn't that the fashion tragedy known as the fanny pack? And no it isn't, these are worn lower and they don't have to be positioned below your stomach. They can be swung around to ride low on your hip, which has been very popular if you have seen the Gucci versions. The thing that's so amazing about these bags is that they lay flat on your body - let me qualify this - they lay flat as long as you don't overload the pockets with tons of stuff - yet another reason they are not the dreaded fanny pack. These are the bags to use if you just need your wallet, a lipstick and a pair of sunglasses, perfect for the summer. And how amazing are those colors? Bright yellow, vibrant green, vivid lavender, and there is also a whole collection of white bags as well.

The Flat Bag collection comes in a bunch of different designs, sizes and colors, a few of which are pictured above: the Small Venetian (yellow), the Village Bag (green) and the Medium Venetian (purple). All of the bags are made of Italian prince leather, which is a very buttery, durable leather. And they have loads of storage space with both external and internal pockets. They are just so convenient, and they free up your arms to hold your coffee and not worry about your bag slipping down your arm and spilling hot coffee all down the front of your shirt. I'm loving my Medium Venetian so much that I may go and get one of the smaller bags in yellow. To see these bags and others from the Flat bag collection, visit Roots.
