Bond No. 9 Astor Place

Bond No. 9, makers of the most amazing perfumes named after different areas of New York, have released a fantastic new fragrance called Astor Place. The fragrance's eye catching bottle was inspired by Tony Rosenthal's "The Alamo", a rotating sculpture at the corner of Lafayette Street and 8th Street known to New Yorkers as the “Astor Place Cube”.

The fragrance is a blend of violet leaf, mandarin zest, freesia, red poppy buds, orris (iris root), teakwood, musk and amber. And the scent really changes as it warms on the skin, becoming soft and sexy. It's floral with a hint of musk, which I like because it's not overwhelmingly floral and feminine. Interestingly, Astor Place is marketed as a unisex fragrance, but a more feminine version with all of the floral notes. Alternatively, Brooklyn, another new fragrance launched at the same time, is also a unisex fragrance but the more masculine version with notes of grapefruit, cardamom, cypress-wood, geranium leaves, juniper berrie, cedarwood, leather and guaiacwood. Astor Place and Andy Warhol Lexington Avenue are by far my favorite scents right now. Bond No. 9 does such an great job crafting unique scents that don't fade in fabulously chic bottles.
