Iron Man

On Saturday, my boyfriend and I decided to go see Iron Man. I’m not going to lie, I was not all that excited to go see it. Yeah, it looked pretty cool with some great special effects, but other than that it didn’t really captivate my imagination. I never read the comic, Robert Downey Jr. is not one of my favorite actors and I am tired of sitting through a movie that puts all of its emphasis on big explosions rather than a coherent plot- anyone remember XXX?

But boy was I wrong. The movie totally rocked! It had it all, super slick effects – the Iron Man suit looked amazing as it careened through walls and fought enemies, a wicked soundtrack, AC/DC included, and what surprised me the most…the writing was funny! The Tony Stark character as played by Downey Jr. made the movie. He was witty and smarmy, and the audience could believe it when he made the change from a money-grubbing arms dealer to super hero – but within reason, he is still kind of a dick at the end.

Yeah, you still have to suspend reality for some of the movie – how does Stark’s body take all of those beatings, could Pepper Potts, played by Gwyneth Paltrow, really run on a grated floor in those 4” stilettos and does the science behind the arc technology make much sense? NO! But does it really matter, and the answer is a resounding NO! The movie is completely entertaining from start to finish.

If you’re looking for something to go see, your choice should be Iron Man. I can’t wait for the sequel!
