On a recent trip to Hawaii, I had a wax done but instead of giving me the
usual aloe cream she gave me Noni Gel to apply to the area that was waxed. I had never heard of it before, but apparently Noni is a tropical plant used for generations in Polynesian cultures as both internal and external medicinal treatment. More recently Noni has been used topically on the skin as an antioxidant herbal gel that reduces inflammation and help acne prone skin. It can also be applied to sunburns to help soothe and repair the skin.
The Noni gel I was given was by Epicuren, and I applied it all over the area the wax had irritated, and I was amazed by the results. Usually the area would be red and irritated, and by the next morning I would already be having a few break outs, but not this time. The Noni gel reduced the redness dramatically on the same day of my wax and controlled the breakouts, it was truly remarkable. The gel has an aloe base, and it is oil free which I think makes a huge difference in the skin’s healing process as it won’t clog the pores that have just been waxed. It’s a total miracle in a bottle!
Oh, and here’s another little tip to help make sure your wax looks its best, especially in the bikini zone: three or four days after your wax (once the skin isn’t sensitive anymore), each time you shower use your towel to gently exfoliate the waxed area. This will help unclog hair follicles and reduce the number of ingrown hairs.
