Harajuku Lovers Perfume Collection

Last night I was browsing around in the perfume section, and I came across the latest fragrances from Gwen Stefani, the new Harajuku Lovers line. First I have to say I am a total Gwen fan. Although I didn't love her latest album, I have been a Gwen-o-phile since her rockin' days in No Doubt. She just has such a great fashion sensibility. But as much as I love her, I was not a fan of the initial L.A.M.B. perfume, L. It smelled just like Benefit's Maybe Baby perfume - sweet and peachy. I also was not impressed with L's staying power, or should I say lack of staying power, it faded way too quickly.

Using the L.A.M.B. motif, the Harajuku Lovers Collection comes in the four Tokyo fashion muses: Love, Angel, Music and Baby, with an additional character G, which is obviously Gwen. Each of the 5 girls have their own scent profiles:

G - notes of fresh coconut, jasmine, and cotton woods

Love - pink pomelo, rose, and creamy vanilla orchid

Angel - spicy, sweet citrus floral with notes of pineapple and candied violet

Music - scents of pear, sweat pea, and sleek wood

Baby - notes of white rose, orange flower, and white musk

The fragrances are all very light, which make me wonder about the whole fading issue, but overall they were better than I expected. They tend to be a little on the sweet side, but not overly so. The two that appealed to me the most were G and Angel. However, I really couldn't tolerate Baby- it smelled too much like baby powder and old lady, not a good combination.

They come in two different sizes, .33oz and 1oz, and they also come in a solid perfume as well. In my opinion, they should also come in a five pack mini trial size so you can try them all out with out having to purchase larger versions individually. I am also curious about how well they mix together to create new and different scents. It's a cute idea and it made me smile, but don't expect super sophisticated scents.
