Now I know tea isn't considered to be a fashion or beauty item, but I could argue that tea does have health benefits that could prevent aging, and this tea is a beautiful thing to me, so I thought I would write about it anyway. I am a big coffee drinker, and kind of a tea snob. I won't drink tea that isn't whole leaf, or my fav, loose leaf, hence a tea snob.Lately tea has become super trendy (even Starbucks has recently released whole leaf tea lattes), with all of the health benefits being announced and different varieties coming on the market. Everywhere
you look there are white teas, rooibos teas or mate green teas lining the shelves of stores that used to just have chamomile or black teas. And this is where David's Tea comes in. It's a Montreal based tea company that is dedicated to giving tea drinkers a wide variety of premium loose leaf teas. And these aren't your average teas, David's takes a fresh approach to different flavors and blends, while also offering the more traditional ones (Earl Grey, Darjeeling, Chamomile, etc). And I have to say the flavor of the teas is pretty incredible. I have tried about six different teas, and each one had a very unique flavor without being bitter or overpowering. One of my favorites is the Coco Chai Rooibos, the base is the super healthy caffeine-free red rooibos tea which is blended with cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, piquant red peppercorns and a hint of coconut. You can actually see the different spices in the tea (pictured above) - no wonder the flavor is so delicious.
And I really like that David's Tea takes a more modern approach to tea, so they don't just tell you how to steep different teas, they also recommend other ways to use the teas, such as in cocktails, like the Chocolate Mint Mate tea, which you can use to flavor a bottle of vodka for martinis - how cool is that! There are 99 different David's teas, so no matter what you're looking for you will definitely find something. You can read all about the teas and order them online, or you can pop in to their retail store in Toronto to have a steaming cup while you browse.
